So, you may wonder, what am I up to these days? The Shed is where you can find out what's on the bench, what's on the shelf and what may come into focus next. Right now I've finished the final editing of Stone of Destiny. I've drafted my next novel, The Polawski Demise and am giving it a rest with a plan to start the heavy first edit in January. I occasionally am moved to write or edit a short story, and keep meaning to do something with a children's story that won an award a few years ago.
In other news, I drafted The Polawski Demise using Scrivener, which is writers' software, not known to be particularly easy to learn. But I've gotten over the initial hump and love it. It allowed me to work off of my outline so easily that I knocked out my draft in less than three weeks during NaNoWriMo, an annual write-a-thon where writers encourage each other during the month of November to get those words out. It helped that my chapter of the League of Utah Writers had a retreat where we all were cranking out cool stuff for our readers. Until Happy Hour anyway.
Next up in my mind is a book that has to do with unicorns. Yes, I have an idea, and no, it's not fleshed out yet. But unicorns are just so intriguing, I can't wait to start the research. And I wrote my first novel some years ago, and have been meaning to look into whether it's salvageable. It's a prequel to Stone. So many ideas, so little time.
